How We Review

Last updated: July 2026

Every Calm Willow review follows the same five-step process. We publish it here so you can see exactly how we reach our conclusions — and hold us to it.

Our five steps

1. Research

We start by gathering what’s actually known: the current published evidence for the ingredients involved, the category as a whole, and the specific claims a brand is making about its product.

2. Sourcing & testing

We look for a current certificate of analysis (COA) from an independent, third-party lab. A COA tells you what’s really in a product — the cannabinoid content, and whether it was screened for contaminants like heavy metals, pesticides, and residual solvents. If a brand won’t share a current COA, we say so.

3. Transparency

We disclose every affiliate relationship on the page where it appears, and we explain how we might earn a commission. You should never have to guess whether a link is paid.

4. Feedback

We weigh real customer experiences — the recurring themes in reviews, not cherry-picked quotes — alongside the documentation. Patterns matter more than any single review.

5. Updates

Formulas change, prices change, and evidence changes. We revisit our reviews over time and note when something has been updated.

How our ratings work

When we assign a rating, it reflects our analysis of the available evidence — not a lab test we ran ourselves. We will never write “we lab-tested this” or “we scored it 9/10 in trials” unless we can show that work. If we can’t substantiate a claim, we don’t make it.

Language we’re careful about

Hemp-derived wellness is an area full of overstatement. We match our wording to the strength of the evidence: “may help” is not “treats,” and nothing we cover is presented as a cure for any medical condition. Products discussed here are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

Found something we got wrong? We take corrections seriously — tell us and we’ll fix it and note the change.
